Graduation day

2008/8/22

Today is our graduation day. Most of the students from Korea and Japan are going home. I have to say that next week the class will be very quite without them. I will miss them. But I don’t feel sad today because I believe that we will meet again in the near future. Our class prepared a short drama for graduation day. We told the story why the solar system become the way it is today. I was the narrator and my other classmates were those planets. It was really funny because we didn’t have lot of time to rehearsal. We kept lagging but it was really fun. You can see it in the video. I found that there were a lot spaces for me to improve my “charisma”. I really enjoyed this program and I hope that someday I will come again. What’s more, I really really wish that my classmates and I can keep in touch with each other. We shared all the happiness and sadness for nearly a month and I will definitely cherish this forever. Whether we will meet again or not I still want to say to my classmates ” I really love u guys.” Also, I want to thank my lovely and handsome teacher Conrad King. You are the best!! I am going home next week and anyway I hope that everything will be fine after all. But now the most emergent thing is that I have to lose my weight!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I looked like a big, fat, ugly witch…….

Kayaking

There's something I felt frustrated today. First of all, my weight kept "skyrocketing" after my aunt went home. Second, I found that my classmates who came from the same country all liked to gather together and chatted in their language. I wondered their purpose or reason to come here learning English. However, after we finished morning classes we went to kayak at the Jericho beach. Fortunately, today’s weather was really nice absolutely a sunny day. As we arrived at the Jericho beach we saw a lot of boat had already lined in the beach. I was so excited and nervous. Then the instructor asked “who have kayaked before? and who's English is good? please come to me". Thing turned out that those people were asked to kayak by themselves since there were not enough boat for double. Then I was one of them, however, I was totally exhausted and tired to death after kayak.

Today we supposed to have a picnic in the afternoon but as the weather here these days were not good they canceled it.

Whistler

2008/8/19

Today we took a trip to Whistler where the 2010 winter Olympic will be held. Unfortunately the weather today was not good. There was shower and also very cloudy in Whistler. We went there by school bus which was really cool because this kind of bus only appears in the movie. I have never seen it running on the street in Taiwan. When we got there I was really excited and tired also because we took nearly two hours bus to Whistler. We waited to take the condola to the mountain house.

Museum of Anthropology

Today our class went to Museum of Anthropology in UBC. This is also my first to go to UBC. UBC is actually a very big campus that includes gardens, beaches, library and many other attractions. It is just like a tourist resort. The museum we went today is famous for its collection of the First Nation totem poles in Canada. We also spend nearly a week to get familiar with the First Nation’s history. The museum was really small and all the totem pole looked very scary to me. They used many animals as a symbol of family.

Vancouver Island!

2008/7/12
I went to Vancouver Island with Seora today. Seora is on of my Korea friends. Her English was excellent! She is also the fist friend that I made in CSLI. I started to go to the language school this week. And I take whole week as my trail classes. Do I like it? To tell the truth, No! Why? Because people come and go frequently so it hard for me to adjust myself to the environment either make new friends every day......What's more, I orignally planned to have one more week in CSLI but I forgot to tell my instructor and I did't even know that there will be a graduational ceremony every Friday. So I graduated suddenly this week!!! But I totally had no idea why until I was notified on Friday and ......it's already graduational day....anyway I think it was weird for me to go to school next week so I choose to go sighseeing in Vancouver by myself!

Vancouver Island was really a small place. Everything there was small for example the doentown and caina town. It took me only helf day to finish the journey. I went there by Ferry and then join the West treck student group. Butchart Garden is really a place worth visiting because the flowers there now are all in blossom! We really had fun today!

Today went to Stanley Park& aquarium with my new classmates Stanfiney and Ule. One is fromGermany and the other in eis from Austria. We really had fun today. I saw a lot of different kinds of animals in the aquarium range from tropical to grigid zone. We also saw a special dolphin show but I used see it in Austrlia so I think it is not cool at all but I still appreciated it.What elseto say? I am tired now......

What is sex? What is all about sex in men’s eyes? The nephew of that hat storekeeper’s asked me out for a drink the other day. For me I viewed this as a interesting adventure. As I received his e-mail and we decided to hung out together today! We originally planned yesterday but I didn’t see him and he didn’t see me at the resterant we supposed to meet each other. However, we both hadn’t arranged well and I didn’t evenknow how he looks like. Actually as I walked to the lounge where we planned to meet I saw a guy in a black suit and looked a little bit too heavy... I was so afraid that he was the one I was looking for thus I silently went away. After that, I send an e-mail to him and said that I did go but I didn’t see him so we decided to meet again today! We met with each other in the Joey’s in downtown. At first, we chatted quite happy and talked a lot about our country and our future plans etc. but then we started to talk about having sex. He said that I am pretty and I have a good figure so I should feel confident about myself. He asked me to join the party his friend is going to hold tonight. There will be a lot of alcohol drinks and games played with card also called strip game. That is, the one who lose have to strip his/her clothes off until he/ she is neked. They will havewhole night fuN together. However, I confused to join. Because I am very sure that the situation will definitely out of my control. The guy even said that he wanted to kiss me if I allow him to do so. What a stupid question. Am I a doll that you think you can play? What the #$&#%&*@(?

I think this might be the strongest culture shock that I experience so far. I never get used to the life style of Canadians. They will spend time lingering around in the pub or club which is regarded as a unsafe places in my parents eyes.....and the concept of sex is really "open" here. I am glad that I made a correct choise today:)

Fifth day!

Today I planned to go to a trip by taking seabus, skytrain and also go to the famous shopping St., Burrard St. When I arrived at Lonsdale Quay I lingered in the traditional market next to the seabus station. I looked around in the market and one small shop catched my attention. So I stop by that small venders. As soon as I came near that hats vender I was appealed by the kind storekeeper. He asked me few questions and we started to chat a lot. He said that I looked gorgeous and beautiful.(>///<) Maybe because of the clothes I wore. He even thought that I came from Hawaii. He then helped me tried on several different types of hats. He asked me did I have a boyfriend and I said no he then eagerly introduced his nephew to me. He said that his nephew is handsome and smart. What's more, he asked my phone number. I wondered in my mind: is this a kind of courting? But he is already hummmm... about 50 years old. Actually, I believed that he just want to get acquaintance with me because I am a foreigner from Taiwan! He is a kind and nice old man. He made all the beautiful hats by himself. He spoke in a very slow tone with a sincere voice. He gave people a sense of peace. However, I left my e-mail instead of phone number. Will I get the mail? I have no idea at all. At last, I bought a hat from him. Although it was really expensive but since he is a nice man so I got one handmade hat without hesitatation! Am I a little bit too impulsive?

Maybe yes maybe no~

Canadian holiday!!

Today is Canadian holiday! I took my cousins to downtown to look around. I treated them with expensive ice cream. It costs me 350NTD!!! for three scoops only. But it was really tasty and delicious.

Forth day!

2008/6/30

Today I tried to travel alone near our apartment to the 41th street. But I was not sure whether I could do it by myself or not to downtown because I didn’t know which bus was bond for the city center. I had no idea at all. But it was really a good challenge for me. To my delight, I made it.
I felt a little boring tonight. I really want to attend the classes here like what my cousins did. I was a little jealous of them. Should I attend the classes?

I still suffered from jet-legged and slept nearly all day long, eating and sleeping. I really waste my day here. I’ve already quit myself to Internet for nearly a week. I couldn’t believe how I made it. Anyway my computer didn't work so I can only use Austine's small computer to surf the Internet.......Oh my TOSHIBA. Anyway, I spared out a lot of time traveling to downtown.

First day in CANADA

I am in Vancouver now! The air here is so fresh and clean. The weather here is also cooling and comfortable. How pleasant it is! But there is one worst thing that happened to me. That is, I suffered from jet-legged. I cannot help but feel sleepy all the time. = = However, I still like Canada although it is my first night here. I took about 10 hours flew to Vancouver.

Since my aunt had to fly to China so we all arrived at the airport about 2 in the afternoon but actually our flight was at 7 in the night. So we wait and wait in the lounge where has a lot of snack for us to eat and take a rest there. To be honest, I had no idea what to do except reading and eating. Whatever, I ate as manyas possible in the lounge. This is the reason why I gain a lot of weights. I just can't resist “food”. Oh my goodness! Is there any way that can cure my illness?
